The corner of Second Avenue and McKinley looked very different not long ago.
The land was city-owned and eventually became part of a larger redevelopment effort along McKinley. Plans evolved, and the property was ultimately divided into the six residential lots that make up Residences on 2nd today.
The change did not happen in isolation.
Historic homes remain nearby, new housing has filled former vacant parcels, larger residential projects have changed the skyline, and other pieces of the neighborhood have disappeared completely.
Roosevelt’s history is not confined to what happened a century ago. Change is still happening on these blocks.
These six homes are simply one of the newest additions.
